Sai Gon 6-1-2015 (English Gateway)—This Wednesday, June 3, 2015, the brothers will gather for their Provincial Chapter. This will be, for several reasons, an event significant enough for each and one of the Dominicans in Viet Nam to take into serious consideration and, above all, to pray for.
First, the Chapter will be held when the Order is preparing for its celebration of 800 years of presence and service in 2016. The Vietnamese Province will commemorate its 50th foundation anniversary in 2017.
Second, the Order is putting into action the decisions made by the Trogir General Chapter in 2013. In the light of efforts to carry out “a better adaptation of some of the Order’s structures for mission”( Acts of Trogir 2013 Chapter, Letter of Promulgation), the Province, too, has to reexamine its mission in the past four years and get ready, with necessary adjustment, improvement and renewal, for the four years of mission ahead.
Third, the brothers do feel the need for both a clear vision and an effective leadership in order for the Province to cope with the country’s new challenges and opportunities in the wake of recent vital turning-points at national, regional and international levels.
